Spoleto Study Abroad 2010
Did you know that arts study in Italy is one of the summer enrichment opportunities available to Visitation students? If your Upper School daughter is an artist, singer, photographer, actor, creative writer, or dancer, she may be interested in attending a summer enrichment program called Spoleto Study Abroad.
Since 2000, Visitation has been part of a consortium of private schools from around the United States whose students participate in Spoleto Study Abroad, a fine arts program for qualified high school students. Spoleto Study Abroad offers concentrated study in one fine arts discipline – chamber music, vocal music, visual art, photography, drama, or creative writing – combined with immersion in Italian culture and an exploration of Italy through a number of day trips.
In mid-November, Visitation’s sophomores and juniors will hear a formal presentation about the Spoleto Study Abroad program from Jennifer Kalika, a woman who taught orchestra at Visitation and chamber music at the Spoleto Study Abroad program for several years. She will offer students a personal look at the experiences of attending this unique art program.
Students or parents who would like additional information may visit the Spoleto Study Abroad website or contact Charlotte Cleveland, chair of the art department at Visitation, or Elizabeth Arnstein, chair of the English department, both of whom attended the Spoleto Study Abroad program for adults.
