Visitation Swim/Dive Team Wins Sixth Consecutive Section Championship
The Visitation Blazers Swim/Dive Team qualified participants in eleven out of the twelve events and outpaced runner-up Hill-Murray to win the recent Section 4A Swim/Dive meet for the sixth time in a row. Ten Blazer swimmers and divers will represent Visitation at the Minnesota State High School Swimming and Diving Championships this coming Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 19-21.
State meet qualifiers and their section meet finishes include the following students:
200-yard medley relay – 1st-Maddy DeMeules, Kate Hickey, Nicole Janssen, Megan Gaylord
200-yard individual medley – 1st- Meg Foster; 4th - Gaylord
50-yard freestyle – 1st-Molly George; 2nd- Ellie Hostetler
One Meter Diving – 3rd- Kaia Magnuson
100-yard butterfly – 1st- Foster (New section record!); 2nd-DeMeules
100-yard freestyle – 2nd-George
500-yard freestyle – 2nd-Claire Nitschke
200-yard freestyle relay – 1st-Molly George, Gaylord, Hostetler, Bailey Brown
100-yard backstroke – 1st-DeMeules
100-yard breaststroke – 2nd-Gaylord; 3rd-Hickey; 5th-Brown
400-yard freestyle relay – 1st-George, Foster, Hostetler, DeMeules
About the State Meet
The state meet will take place at the University of Minnesota’s Aquatics Center, with diving prelims starting at noon on Thursday, swimming prelims at noon on Friday, and swimming and diving finals at noon on Saturday. Upper School and Middle School classes will end at 10:50 a.m. on Friday so that Visitation students can attend the meet and cheer on their classmates. A school bus will be provided for students who would like to attend the meet on Friday. Interested students should pick up the bus permission form outside the Attendance Office, have parents fill out the form, and return it to the Attendance Office NO LATER THAN 8:30 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING. Students should note that lunch will not be available in our dining room for Upper School students.
