Letter from
the Coach:
As the weather
has turned chilly and the days have grown shorter, the start of the 2009-2010
basketball season is just weeks away.
In years
past, we have had a pre-season sign-up meeting at school for all of the girls
and a parents meeting once try-outs were completed. This year we are
going to combine the two, and have our Parents Meeting and Sign-up
meeting together.
The
Player/Parent meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 28, from
6:30-7:30pm, in the Visitation Dining room.
All girls, grades 9-12, who are possibly considering
trying out for basketball should attend this meeting along with at least
one of their parents. I would like to emphasize that any
girl who signs up for basketball at this meeting is not under any obligation to
play basketball this season, but it is important that all potential players
receive the basketball policies for the upcoming season.
There are
multiple things that we hope to accomplish at this meeting:
First,
there are two new members of Visitation coaching staff (Matt Froehle-Varsity
Asst & Maggie Misukanie-9th Grade coach); this will give everyone an
opportunity to be introduced to the new coaches.
Second, by
having a preliminary sign-up meeting it will allow the coaching staff to have a
better estimate of how many players will be trying out for basketball.
Having the pre-season sign-up meeting also allows us to submit a list of
potential players to Joelaine Monson so we can make sure all players have the
proper forms turned in before the season starts.
Last but
not least, we will be handing out the copies of the policies packet for
the 2009-2010 season. We will review the contents of the packet which
includes a Captains practice and tryout schedule, team expectations, attendance
policy, game schedules, and practice schedules for the season.
If there is
any family who cannot attend the meeting but is intending on playing basketball
it is important that you contact me so I can make sure that your family
receives a copy of the policies before the season starts. I can be reached
either by e-mail or on my cell-phone 612-998-1548.
I am really
excited for the upcoming season and am looking forward to seeing all of you
next week.
