The Alumnae
Association needs your help!
Several years ago, Visitation Alumnae
started a beautiful project, called "Knitting with the Sisters" in
which alums were invited to spend a peaceful evening knitting and socializing
with the Visitation Sisters. Since then, it has evolved into
"The Prayer Shawl Ministry," providing tangible comfort for members
of the Visitation community who are coping with a serious illness.
Prayer shawls are knit by anyone in the Visitation community, be
they experienced or novice knitters. The knitter prays for the unknown
recipient every time she/he picks up her needles; so the finished shawl is
laden with prayers.
When finished, the prayer shawls are distributed to Sisters, parents, students,
alumnae/i, faculty/staff or friends.
Unfortunately, the need for the
shawls is great and supplies have become depleted. Please consider participating
in this rewarding and fun service project.
The next meetings is December 14 in the Sisters'
Parlor, behind the Portress. We meet from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and
then are welcomed to join the Sisters for their evening prayer in the
chapel.
Please contact Katie Flynn Blando '88 with questions or to donate yarn or needles.
We hope to see you with at one of
the meetings!
When I knit this shawl, I prayed many prayers into every stitch:
that this shawl would keep you warm;
make you feel strong,
help you feel better.
