Online Grade Procedures Welcome Parents and Students to PowerSchool Open Access
Convent of the Visitation School uses PowerSchool as its student information system, to schedule, record and store, and archive a variety of important student information. We are happy to be able to share the grades reporting portion of Powerschool with you, via the Parent Portal. We hope that you and your student find this another valuable tool in supporting high school academic success. Questions regarding your student’s grades or assignments should first be discussed with your child, and then with their teacher when necessary. Please read and refer to the following instructions and tips to most fully utilize the PowerSchool system.
1. To access the Powerschool Parent Portal from the Visitation website, click on the Power School Link on the left tool bar and choose PowerSchool for Parents or click here. Enter your log-in data exactly as given. - Please note the difference between the letter "i" and the number "1" as well as the letter "O" and the number "0"
- Input is case sensitive, be sure you've entered exactly as given
- Please do not allow your web browser to "remember" your log-in information as it is scrambled for security purposes and will not work properly if the browser inserts it. You must enter it each time you access PowerSchool.
2. The Parent Portal Start Page is your central point to access student information. Its main menu allows you to choose several features including:Grades and Attendance
| This details your student’s current term grades and attendance.
| Grades History
| This lists your student’s previous course grades for terms other than the present. (Being built.)
| Attendance History
| This details the current year’s attendance for your student.
| Email Notification
| We do not currently use this feature but hope to in the future.
| Teacher Comments
| This allows you to see course comments entered by any of your student’s teachers.
| School Bulletin
| This allows you to see the school’s daily bulletin, shared with students at the start of day.
| Class Registration
| This feature is used by students in the Spring during our course registration weeks.
| My Calendars
| We do not currently use this feature; please refer to the school calendar on the website.

- Any information shown in blue allows you to click for more detail.
- On many pages, a printer icon appears at the bottom. Clicking it displays a printable version in a new window.
- Please remember that your daughter is your best source of information concerning a grade or assignment. Discuss these questions and concerns with her before contacting a teacher. Should that discussion not provide sufficient information, your daughter should be encouraged to discuss items with her teacher. Should you still be in need of information after these suggestions have been attempted, an email to the teacher is suggested.
- Most importantly, remember that a grade is one piece of a student’s academic story; each assignment a snapshot within this framework. Allow your student to dialog with her teachers first, taking the responsibility to follow up when more information is needed. Help to encourage your daughter to check on assignments/grades as necessary with teachers in person. The one-on-one contact she has with them is unmatched by any reporting system.
- Each teacher will update his/her gradebook as best suits the class needs; this is outlined in course syllabi. Report cards will be sent at the end of semesters; comments for course grades of D or F will be reported only in PowerSchool, no longer via mid-quarter reports.
- Should you have log-on difficulty, please contact Lauri Badar, Registrar for assistance.
We hope that you find PowerSchool Open Access a useful tool to support your student’s success. |
